A strange little side quest
The next time Royal Envoy asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That long chain of experiments is part of why simulation games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
