A strange little side quest
Meal Masters may feel immediate, but the ideas around food history have been evolving for a very long time. Cone-shaped wafers with cream were described in print before 1900, but the ice-cream cone became a major American fairground hit at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. A second detail makes the picture even better: The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. That long chain of experiments is part of why food history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
