A strange little side quest
Between one round of Slash Ville 3D and the next, this is worth knowing: SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Slash Ville 3D feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
