A strange little side quest
Before the next round of Farm Mania, here is a piece of the bigger picture. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That long chain of experiments is part of why simulation games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
