A strange little side quest
One reason puzzles keeps producing good game ideas around Craig of the Creek: The Hunt for Mortimor is that its history is full of strange turns. Alexey Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 after drawing inspiration from pentomino puzzles, then simplified the idea around shapes made from four squares. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. Grombi files that under: small game, surprisingly large backstory.
