A strange little side quest
One reason simulation games keeps producing good game ideas around Youda Farmer is that its history is full of strange turns. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That long chain of experiments is part of why simulation games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
