A strange little side quest
The mechanics around Sydney Hidden Objects have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
