A strange little side quest
Put 1010 Sudoku next to the history of puzzles and a few unexpected connections appear. Arthur Wynne published a diamond-shaped 'Word-Cross' in the New York World on December 21, 1913; the name later shifted to 'Cross-Word' and then 'crossword'. That is only half the story. Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. So a round of 1010 Sudoku is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer puzzles timeline.
