A strange little side quest
Put Swords and Sandals: Champion Sprint next to the history of puzzles and a few unexpected connections appear. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. That gives Swords and Sandals: Champion Sprint a little more company than it first appears to have.
