A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Frantic Ninjas sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Boxing was part of the ancient Olympic Games by 688 BC, long before gloves, weight classes, or timed rounds existed in anything like their modern form. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That long chain of experiments is part of why combat sports still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
