A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Sector's Lego sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Sonic the Hedgehog launched in 1991 and turned speed itself into a defining platform-game mechanic. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. That gives Sector's Lego a little more company than it first appears to have.
