A strange little side quest
Zoom out from Forgotten Dungeon II for a moment and the timeline gets surprisingly deep. Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. Grombi files that under: small game, surprisingly large backstory.
