A strange little side quest
Stick Doors and Island has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. The timeline takes another interesting turn: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. So a round of Stick Doors and Island is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer puzzles timeline.
