A strange little side quest
Rapid Reaction Xenon has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. The name Tetris combines a reference to four-square pieces with Pajitnov's interest in tennis. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Doom changed game design and distribution in 1993 by separating its engine from content and spreading widely through shareware. That long chain of experiments is part of why puzzles still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
