A strange little side quest
Oil Tycoon has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Pong was field-tested in California bars in 1972 and helped launch the modern arcade-game era. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
