A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Magic Baking is anything but tiny. The Oregon Trail eventually appeared across generations of computer hardware and sold tens of millions of copies, making it one of the most enduring educational games. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That gives Magic Baking a little more company than it first appears to have.
