A strange little side quest
Before the next round of Cafe Waitress, here is a piece of the bigger picture. Electric refrigeration reached the American mass market in the late 1920s, changing how households stored food and even how desserts such as ice cream could be made at home. A second detail makes the picture even better: SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That long chain of experiments is part of why food history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
