A strange little side quest
One reason simulation games keeps producing good game ideas around Farmer Noob: Super Hero is that its history is full of strange turns. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. That gives Farmer Noob: Super Hero a little more company than it first appears to have.
