A strange little side quest
The next time Super Responsible Parent asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. It also connects to a different milestone: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That long chain of experiments is part of why role-playing games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
