A strange little side quest
Effing Worms has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. Early computer role-playing games helped turn rules, inventories, exploration and character progression into systems that could support long-form digital adventures. It also connects to a different milestone: Space Invaders, released in 1978, helped push video games into mainstream popular culture. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
