A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Tomb Runner is anything but tiny. Sonic the Hedgehog launched in 1991 and turned speed itself into a defining platform-game mechanic. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
