A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Cube Of Zombies is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. The same trail leads to another fact: Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. The details change, but the appeal of learning a system and trying again is remarkably persistent.
