A strange little side quest
Escape Zombie City may feel immediate, but the ideas around simulation games have been evolving for a very long time. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. Gun Fight reached arcades in 1975 and became the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
