A strange little side quest
Charlie the Talking Steak may feel immediate, but the ideas around video-game history have been evolving for a very long time. Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That old idea kept changing rather than disappearing. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. Not bad for a few facts hiding behind a Play button.
