A strange little side quest
One reason video-game history keeps producing good game ideas around Freddy: Pimple Popper is that its history is full of strange turns. Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That is only half the story. Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
