A strange little side quest
If The Mad Cow sends you down a curiosity rabbit hole, start here. Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
