A strange little side quest
The mechanics around 2D Mini Golf have roots that stretch far beyond modern browsers. Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Midway's Gun Fight from 1975 was the first arcade video game to use a microprocessor. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
