A strange little side quest
Put Head Basket next to the history of sports history and a few unexpected connections appear. Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That long chain of experiments is part of why sports history still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
