A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Crazy Golf is anything but tiny. Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. So a round of Crazy Golf is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer sports history timeline.
