A strange little side quest
Woodman Pump Idle belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. It also connects to a different milestone: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That gives Woodman Pump Idle a little more company than it first appears to have.
