A strange little side quest
The next time Fruit Empire asks for one more try, remember that game ideas rarely appear from nowhere. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. It also connects to a different milestone: Pac-Man went on sale in 1980, and its creator Toru Iwatani famously linked the character's shape to a pizza with a slice missing. So a round of Fruit Empire is not just a quick distraction; it is a tiny stop on a much longer simulation games timeline.
