A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in Who Dies Last. Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Nintendo's Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 and introduced the character first known as Jumpman, who later became Mario. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Who Dies Last feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
