A strange little side quest
The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Ultimate PK is anything but tiny. The penalty kick entered football's laws in 1891 and was nicknamed the 'kick of death' in its early days. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
