A strange little side quest
Mini Golf Forever may feel immediate, but the ideas around sports history have been evolving for a very long time. Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. The same trail leads to another fact: Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
