A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Town Building sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. SimCity grew out of Will Wright's enjoyment of the map editor he had built for an earlier game; the act of shaping a city became the game itself. A second detail makes the picture even better: Games resembling checkers were being played thousands of years ago; evidence of related games reaches back to around 1600 BC. Grombi files that under: small game, surprisingly large backstory.
