A strange little side quest
Put Hero Tower Wars next to the history of puzzles and a few unexpected connections appear. The first crossword puzzle book appeared in 1924 in a cautious initial printing of 3,600 copies, complete with a free pencil. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. Chess changed dramatically in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries when the queen became the board's most powerful piece. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
