A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in Swing Soccer. The penalty kick entered football's laws in 1891 and was nicknamed the 'kick of death' in its early days. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. That gives Swing Soccer a little more company than it first appears to have.
