A strange little side quest
Put Netblazer next to the history of basketball and a few unexpected connections appear. The earliest basketball games used peach baskets, and Naismith wrote 13 original rules for the new indoor sport. And the history keeps stacking up: Basketball became an Olympic medal sport in 1936, while women’s basketball joined the Olympic programme in 1976. That long chain of experiments is part of why basketball still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
