A strange little side quest
There is a neat bit of history hiding behind the kind of play you find in Sort My Tiles : Dora the Queen. Alexey Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 after drawing inspiration from pentomino puzzles, then simplified the idea around shapes made from four squares. And the history keeps stacking up: The Oregon Trail began in 1971 when three student teachers created a computer simulation to help Minnesota schoolchildren learn American history. That long chain of experiments is part of why puzzles still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
