A strange little side quest
Solitaire Fortune has plenty of company in a long tradition of players chasing timing, patterns and better decisions. Street Fighter II, released in 1991, turned head-to-head arcade fighting into a worldwide phenomenon and helped define the modern fighting-game genre. The surprising part is how quickly the next milestone followed. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
