A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Ski Slalom sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Archery was already on the Olympic programme in 1900, boxing joined the modern Games in 1904, and basketball became a medal sport in 1936. It also connects to a different milestone: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. That gives Ski Slalom a little more company than it first appears to have.
