A strange little side quest
If Sandspiel sends you down a curiosity rabbit hole, start here. In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. A second detail makes the picture even better: Atari's Gran Trak 10 from 1974 is recognized as the first arcade racing video game. The screen is modern; the urge to test skill, pattern and timing definitely is not.
