A strange little side quest
The fun part of looking behind Rail Rush is seeing how many older ideas are still alive in modern play. The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. The timeline takes another interesting turn: Computer Space reached arcades in 1971 and became one of the earliest commercial electronic arcade games, even though its controls proved demanding for many players. That long chain of experiments is part of why simulation games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
