A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Purple Dino Run sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Donkey Kong arrived in 1981 with a character called Jumpman, who would later become one of gaming's most recognizable figures: Mario. Another piece of context lands nicely beside it: Women competed in Olympic archery as early as 1904, making it one of the early Olympic sports to include women. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
