A strange little side quest
Food Slices belongs to a much longer story of play than a browser tab might suggest. Cone-shaped wafers with cream were described in print before 1900, but the ice-cream cone became a major American fairground hit at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. A second detail makes the picture even better: Women competed in Olympic archery as early as 1904, making it one of the early Olympic sports to include women. That history is one reason familiar mechanics can still feel new when they are recombined well.
