A little context makes Papa's Cheeseria more fun to place on the gaming map. Electric refrigeration reached the American mass market in the late 1920s, changing how households stored food and even how desserts such as ice cream could be made at home. The broader history adds one more wrinkle. M.U.L.E. arrived in 1983 with multiplayer competition built around gathering resources and keeping a colony alive, an early example of resource-driven strategy play. That gives Papa's Cheeseria a little more company than it first appears to have.
