A strange little side quest
Even a quick game like Nom Nom Hotdogs sits on top of decades — and sometimes centuries — of ideas. Nancy Johnson patented a hand-cranked ice-cream freezer in 1843 that used an inner churning chamber surrounded by ice. That is only half the story. By the 1890s, department stores and mail-order catalogs were selling mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes in standardized styles and price ranges. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
