A strange little side quest
Put Pool Party Kitsch next to the history of fashion and style and a few unexpected connections appear. By the 1890s, department stores and mail-order catalogs were selling mass-produced ready-to-wear clothes in standardized styles and price ranges. There is another connection worth keeping in the same mental pocket: In 1958, Tennis for Two used an analog computer and an oscilloscope to turn simple physics into a playable tennis-like demonstration. It is a good reminder that simple game mechanics can carry a surprising amount of history.
