A strange little side quest
Before the next round of Murder: To Kill or Not to Kill, here is a piece of the bigger picture. By 1987, fantasy role-playing had become a major computer-game direction, with Zelda, licensed Dungeons & Dragons games and other story-led adventures expanding the form. And then there is this: Spacewar! appeared on MIT's PDP-1 in 1962 and became one of the earliest influential computer games shared among programmers. That long chain of experiments is part of why role-playing games still feels fresh when a game finds the right twist.
