The rules may be simple on screen, but the backstory around Mom's Diary is anything but tiny. Tomatoes helped turn Naples' flatbreads into the food we recognize as pizza, which had become an important food for poorer Neapolitans by the 18th century. The same trail leads to another fact: The Oregon Trail mixed travel, supplies, risk and survival decisions decades before resource-management systems became common in mainstream games. That is the kind of background detail that makes another attempt at Mom's Diary feel a bit more connected to the history of play.
